We are about to embark on a grand adventure and are looking for people to join us in our journey. If you are energized about helping others to build and protect their dreams, please take a look at the postings below. We look forward to learning more about you!
Mind The Gap Internship (Legal Intern)
Location: Virtual (based out of Jacksonville, FL)
Have you just taken a bar exam? Still waiting on results? Not sure what to do in the meantime other than binge watch Stranger Things? Wait, 8 episodes and it’s already over?
Looking for a way to gain experience during this odd gap period? Need a writing sample to rocket your career off to an amazing start with a job you may not know about yet? Perfect! We have the internship for you!
Wilson Dutra is a Jacksonville law firm that focuses on patents, trademarks, startups . . . and most importantly fun. We have the amazing privilege to work with new tech and startups from a wide variety of markets.
If you love researching law and drafting tech contracts as much as we do, which is a lot, in case you were unsure, then join in on the fun. Help us help the startups and entreps out there. We need your fresh legal perspective to help research and develop contracts that meet the unique needs of our innovative clients. For 4-8 weeks (depends on the task), we want you to immerse yourself in whatever tech contract world we pair you with. Live it. Love it. Breathe it . . . then we want you to tell us how to do the same! Don’t worry, we won’t give you a topic you hate or find boring. Bonus, at the end of the gap, you will have a work product to be proud to submit as a writing sample!
We know. You are looking for that list of requirements to see if you qualify for this internship. Well, if you have read this far, then you likely are our ideal candidate. But, just to make everyone feel better, we have compiled a very long list of characteristics that we feel would embody our best intern.
1. Love fun.
2. Love learning.
4. Have a solid sense of humor. (This does not mean you always laugh at our sterling attempts at humor. We have not hit the New York standup scene in quite some time.)
5. Appreciate experience, referrals, and refined writing samples over wages.
6. Available for a 4-8 week project between taking a bar exam and getting bar results.
If this is you, then please apply! We need you now at some point between taking the bar and waiting for results. Position may be paid depending on the project.
This is not your standard internship posting, so naturally your application won’t be either.
If you are interested, please send a cover letter describing what you will be doing during this gap period if you don’t get this amazing internship. We want specifics. Don’t send us something like “Netflix” or “video games” or “eating ice cream.” Tell us details in beautiful writing...something like “I will be spending every warm night competitively eating quarts of butter pecan ice cream with my labradoodle Bianca. The brain freeze will be a brutal reminder of the lonely existence of a juris doctor without a job.” You can include links, images, the best sites to learn more about tech you might want to blog about. . . get creative and be authentic. You may send us your resume and transcript, but understand that it will only give us context for your interests and tech background and will not necessarily affect whether we think you are a good fit.
